Who We Are

A leader in the education and promotion of art and documentary photography, the Photographic Center Northwest strives to enrich photographic artistry and appreciation through its quality classes and workshops, a gallery exhibiting internationally renowned artists, and outreach programs, which serve photographers throughout the region and beyond. We offer classes and workshops, taught by skilled faculty. Our students range from novice to seasoned professional. Students may choose to take individual classes or enroll in a comprehensive program, which includes a yearlong thesis project. Our fine art photography curriculum encompasses concept, theory, aesthetics, and technical proficiency.

Educational Offerings

Photographic Center Northwest has a diverse student body that ranges from individuals who are new to photography to master photographers and BFA students. We offer workshops in Seattle and abroad, classes, a certificate program, and BFA courses in partnership with Seattle University. Each of our educational offerings are thoughtfully structured to foster technical and conceptual growth to students at all levels of proficiency.

Facilities

Located just south of Capitol Hill in Seattle at 900 Twelfth Avenue, the Photographic Center Northwest houses two large black and white labs, one of the regions only public color darkroom, two dedicated spaces for working with studio lighting, a digital lab, and a reference library. A gallery and auditorium allow for on-site exhibits, lectures, and meetings.

Accreditation

The Photographic Center Northwest is nationally accredited. PCNW is one of 200 art and design schools and college and university art/design departments who are accredited institutional members of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD).
